1531 – Electric Pallet Jack Operator Safety Training
A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides Electric Pallet Jack Operator Safety Training designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical understanding necessary to safely operate powered pallet trucks used in warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, retail operations, loading docks, and other material-handling environments.
This training program addresses equipment familiarization, pre-operation inspection, stability, load capacity, pallet and load handling, pedestrian interaction, ramps and loading docks, battery charging, workplace hazards, manufacturer requirements, and operator responsibilities. Practical training and operator performance evaluation may be provided when applicable and when suitable equipment is available.

Training Discipline: Powered Industrial Truck & Material Handling Safety
Equipment: Electric Pallet Jack / Powered Pallet Truck / Motorized Hand Truck, as Applicable
Training Format: Training may include formal instruction, demonstrations, practical equipment training, and evaluation of operator performance, as applicable.
Practical Training: Operator qualification should include practical training on the type of electric pallet jack the participant is expected to operate. Training should address the equipment’s controls, steering and braking characteristics, capacity, load handling, workplace conditions, battery system, and other operating characteristics.
Operator Evaluation: Where OSHA’s Powered Industrial Truck standard applies, operator training includes formal instruction, practical training, and evaluation of the operator’s performance in the workplace. Operator performance must also be evaluated at least once every three years, with refresher training required when specified conditions occur.
Powered Industrial Truck Notice: Electric pallet jacks and powered pallet trucks may be covered by OSHA requirements applicable to powered industrial trucks. Classroom or online instruction alone should not be represented as completing operator qualification when practical training and workplace performance evaluation are required.
Pedestrian Safety Notice: Electric pallet jacks frequently operate in areas shared with pedestrians. Operators should maintain appropriate speed, visibility, clearance, and control and should use warning devices and follow workplace traffic procedures as applicable.
Dock Safety Notice: Loading docks, dock plates, trailers, ramps, floor openings, and elevated edges can create serious struck-by, crushing, and fall hazards. Operators should verify that travel surfaces and supporting equipment are suitable before entering these areas.
Equipment-Specific Training Notice: Walk-behind and rider pallet trucks may have different controls, operating characteristics, capacities, and hazards. Operators should receive instruction and familiarization appropriate to the specific equipment they are expected to operate.
Employer Responsibility Notice: Completion of an A.R.G. classroom or knowledge-based training component does not by itself authorize an individual to operate an electric pallet jack. Employers remain responsible for ensuring applicable formal instruction, practical training, workplace evaluation, refresher training, equipment-specific familiarization, authorization, and documentation requirements are satisfied.
Training Certificate: Participants who successfully complete applicable training and evaluation requirements may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training documenting completion of the Electric Pallet Jack Operator Safety Training program.
The certificate documents training completed and should not be represented as an OSHA-issued card, governmental operator license, or governmental certification.
