1516 – Compactor / Roller Operator Safety Training
A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides Compactor / Roller Operator Safety Training designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical understanding necessary to safely operate compaction equipment used in construction, paving, roadwork, site development, earthwork, and similar operations.
This training program addresses equipment familiarization, pre-operation inspection, workplace hazards, stability, safe travel, compaction operations, slopes and grades, visibility, pedestrian safety, manufacturer requirements, and operator responsibilities. Practical operator evaluation may be provided when applicable and when suitable equipment is available.

Training Discipline: Heavy Equipment Operator Safety
Equipment: Compactor / Roller / Vibratory Roller / Soil or Asphalt Compaction Equipment, as Applicable
Training Format: Instructor-led classroom and/or online instruction with practical equipment training and operator evaluation as applicable.
Practical Training: When provided as part of operator qualification, hands-on training should address the specific equipment configuration, controls, compaction system, operating characteristics, limitations, and hazards associated with the compactor or roller the participant is expected to operate.
Operator Evaluation: Practical evaluation, when required by the employer, project, manufacturer instructions, or applicable requirements, should be performed using equipment representative of the type the participant will operate and under representative workplace conditions.
Slope & Edge Safety Notice: Compactor and roller stability can be significantly affected by slopes, soft ground, excavations, embankments, road edges, vibration, and site conditions. Operators should maintain appropriate clearance from unstable edges and follow manufacturer operating limitations and applicable site-specific procedures.
Work-Zone Safety Notice: Compaction equipment is frequently operated near workers, vehicles, paving equipment, and active traffic. Appropriate traffic control, pedestrian separation, communication, visibility, and site-specific safety measures should be established as applicable.
Employer Responsibility Notice: Completion of this A.R.G. training program does not by itself authorize an individual to operate compaction equipment. Employers remain responsible for ensuring operators are appropriately trained, familiarized, evaluated, authorized, and competent for the specific equipment, tasks, hazards, and workplace conditions involved.
Training Certificate: Participants who successfully complete applicable training and evaluation requirements may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training documenting completion of the Compactor / Roller Operator Safety Training program.
The certificate documents training completed and should not be represented as a governmental operator license.
