1532 – Walkie Stacker Operator Safety Training
A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides Walkie Stacker Operator Safety Training designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical understanding necessary to safely operate powered walkie stackers used for lifting, stacking, retrieving, transporting, and positioning palletized materials in warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, storage areas, and other material-handling environments.
This training program addresses equipment familiarization, pre-operation inspection, stability, rated capacity, load handling, elevated loads, stacking and unstacking, pedestrian interaction, ramps and loading areas, battery charging, manufacturer requirements, and operator responsibilities. Practical training and operator performance evaluation may be provided when applicable and when suitable equipment is available.

Training Discipline: Powered Industrial Truck & Material Handling Safety
Equipment: Walkie Stacker / Powered Stacker / Straddle Stacker / Counterbalanced Walkie Stacker, as Applicable
Training Format: Training may include formal instruction, demonstrations, practical equipment training, and evaluation of operator performance, as applicable.
Practical Training: Operator qualification should include practical training on the type of walkie stacker the participant is expected to operate. Training should address the equipment’s controls, steering and braking characteristics, mast and lifting system, capacity, stability, load handling, workplace conditions, battery system, and other operating characteristics.
Operator Evaluation: Where OSHA’s Powered Industrial Truck standard applies, operator training includes formal instruction, practical training, and evaluation of the operator’s performance in the workplace. Operator performance must also be evaluated at least once every three years, with refresher training required when specified conditions occur.
Powered Industrial Truck Notice: Powered walkie stackers may be subject to OSHA requirements applicable to powered industrial trucks. Classroom or online instruction alone should not be represented as completing operator qualification when practical training and workplace performance evaluation are required.
Elevated Load Safety Notice: Elevated loads can affect equipment stability and create falling-object, crushing, and struck-by hazards. Personnel should remain clear of elevated loads, and loads should be handled within the equipment’s rated capacity and manufacturer limitations.
Pedestrian Safety Notice: Walkie stackers frequently operate in areas shared with pedestrians. Operators should maintain appropriate speed, clearance, visibility, and control and keep themselves and others clear of the mast, forks, wheels, load, and other crushing or pinch-point areas.
Equipment-Specific Training Notice: Walkie stacker models can differ significantly in controls, capacity, mast configuration, steering, braking, stability, and operating characteristics. Operators should receive instruction and familiarization appropriate to the specific equipment they are expected to operate.
Employer Responsibility Notice: Completion of an A.R.G. classroom or knowledge-based training component does not by itself authorize an individual to operate a walkie stacker. Employers remain responsible for ensuring applicable formal instruction, practical training, workplace evaluation, refresher training, equipment-specific familiarization, authorization, and documentation requirements are satisfied.
Training Certificate: Participants who successfully complete applicable training and evaluation requirements may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training documenting completion of the Walkie Stacker Operator Safety Training program.
The certificate documents training completed and should not be represented as an OSHA-issued card, governmental operator license, or governmental certification.
