Description
This training program provides instruction on basic hand signals used to support safe communication during lifting, material handling, equipment movement, and other workplace operations. The course is designed for competent persons, supervisors, spotters, signal persons, and employees who may be responsible for communicating with equipment operators or directing workplace activities.
Training topics include standard hand signal principles, communication responsibilities, visibility and positioning, maintaining clear communication with operators, recognizing unsafe conditions, stopping operations when communication is lost, and basic practices for coordinating equipment and personnel safely.
Participants will also review the importance of site-specific procedures, employer requirements, equipment limitations, hazard recognition, and maintaining effective communication during operations.
A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides this training as part of its Competent Person and workplace safety training programs. Training content may be customized to address specific equipment, workplace conditions, and employer requirements.
