A.R.G. Defensive Driving & Motor Vehicle Safety Training
The A.R.G. Defensive Driving & Motor Vehicle Safety Training program is designed to help employees, supervisors, contractors, and company vehicle operators recognize driving hazards, apply defensive driving principles, and reduce the risk of motor vehicle incidents while driving for work.
This occupational safety training program emphasizes safe driving behaviors, hazard recognition, vehicle awareness, and employer motor vehicle safety practices for employees who operate cars, pickup trucks, vans, and other applicable company or personal vehicles as part of their work activities.
Program Objectives
Upon successful completion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Understand fundamental defensive driving principles.
- Recognize common roadway and occupational driving hazards.
- Understand the importance of seat belt use and occupant protection.
- Recognize distracted-driving hazards and methods for reducing distractions.
- Understand safe speed selection and following-distance principles.
- Recognize hazards associated with intersections, lane changes, and blind spots.
- Apply safer backing and parking practices.
- Recognize hazards associated with adverse weather and roadway conditions.
- Understand night-driving visibility considerations.
- Recognize fatigue and drowsy-driving hazards.
- Understand the hazards associated with impaired driving.
- Recognize work-zone and roadside driving hazards.
- Understand basic pre-trip vehicle safety inspection principles.
- Respond appropriately to vehicle emergencies and roadway incidents.
- Understand basic motor vehicle incident and crash reporting responsibilities.
- Support employer vehicle safety policies and safe-driving expectations.

Participants who successfully complete the applicable training requirements and required assessments may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training.
Program Identification
A.R.G. Defensive Driving & Motor Vehicle Safety Training is an occupational driver safety training program developed and administered by A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health for workplace and employer safety applications.
Employer & Group Training
A.R.G. can provide scheduled training for individual employees, contractor groups, company vehicle operators, and employer workforces. Program content may be supplemented with applicable employer vehicle policies and workplace driving requirements when included within the agreed training scope.

Important Notice
A.R.G. Defensive Driving & Motor Vehicle Safety Training is an occupational workplace safety training program. It is not represented as a Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV)-approved Basic Driver Improvement (BDI), Advanced Driver Improvement (ADI), traffic school, driver-license, court-ordered, insurance-discount, or point-reduction course. Completion of this program does not provide a driver’s license, remove traffic citation points, satisfy court or state driver-improvement requirements, or guarantee an insurance premium reduction. Employers remain responsible for determining employee driving qualifications, licensing requirements, vehicle-specific requirements, company policies, and other applicable regulatory or contractual requirements.
