Respirator Fit Testing Services – Asbestos, Lead, Mold & Silica
A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides professional Respirator Fit Testing Services for employees who are required to wear tight-fitting respiratory protection while performing work involving asbestos, lead, mold, respirable crystalline silica, construction activities, industrial operations, environmental remediation, and other occupational respiratory hazards.
Respirator fit testing helps verify that the specific respirator selected for an employee provides an appropriate seal and fit for that individual.

Regulatory Reference
Respirator fit testing is conducted in accordance with applicable requirements of the OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.134, including applicable OSHA-accepted fit-testing procedures contained in Appendix A to 29 CFR 1910.134.
Employee Requirements Before Fit Testing
Employees required to use respiratory protection must complete the applicable medical evaluation and receive appropriate medical clearance for respirator use before fit testing. The employer is responsible for ensuring that required medical evaluation requirements have been satisfied before the employee participates in the fit test.
Employees should bring the same make, model, style, and size respirator that they will use in the workplace. Facial hair, facial conditions, clothing, or other items that interfere with the respirator sealing surface may prevent the fit test from being performed or successfully completed.
Fit Testing Frequency
Applicable OSHA requirements require fit testing before initial use of a tight-fitting respirator, whenever a different respirator facepiece is used, at least annually thereafter, and when physical changes occur that could affect respirator fit.
Documentation
Upon completion, A.R.G. may provide applicable fit-test documentation identifying the employee, type of fit test performed, respirator make/model/style/size, date of testing, and applicable test result.

Important Notice
Respirator fit testing does not replace the employer’s responsibility to establish and maintain an applicable written respiratory protection program, conduct hazard evaluations, select appropriate respiratory protection, provide required medical evaluations, training, maintenance, and comply with all applicable OSHA and other regulatory requirements. A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health does not provide medical clearance through this fit-testing service unless such medical evaluation services are specifically identified and contracted separately.
