1511 – Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Operator Safety Training
A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Operator Safety Training designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical understanding necessary to safely operate mobile elevating work platforms and recognize hazards associated with elevated work.
This training program addresses MEWP classifications and equipment familiarization, pre-operation inspections, workplace risk assessment, stability, fall protection, electrical hazards, safe positioning, travel, emergency procedures, manufacturer requirements, and operator responsibilities. Practical equipment familiarization and operator evaluation may be provided when applicable and when suitable equipment is available.

Training Discipline: Equipment Operator Safety / Mobile Elevating Work Platforms
Equipment: Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), including applicable scissor-type and boom-supported platforms.
Training Format: Instructor-led classroom and/or online instruction with equipment-specific familiarization, practical training, and operator evaluation as applicable.
Equipment-Specific Familiarization: Operators should be familiarized with the specific MEWP they will operate, including its controls, safety devices, operating characteristics, limitations, manufacturer instructions, and applicable emergency procedures.
Practical Training: When this course is used as part of an operator qualification program, practical training should address the applicable type of MEWP and the operating conditions the participant is expected to encounter.
Operator Evaluation: Practical evaluation, when required by the employer, project, manufacturer instructions, or applicable requirements, should be performed using equipment representative of the type the participant will operate and under representative workplace conditions.
Fall Protection Notice: Fall protection requirements can vary according to the type and configuration of MEWP, applicable regulations, manufacturer instructions, and workplace conditions. Employers and operators must determine and follow the requirements applicable to the equipment and work being performed.
Employer Responsibility Notice: Completion of this A.R.G. training program does not by itself authorize an individual to operate every type or model of MEWP. Employers remain responsible for ensuring operators receive appropriate training, equipment-specific familiarization, practical instruction, evaluation, authorization, and verification of competency for the equipment and workplace conditions involved.
Training Certificate: Participants who successfully complete applicable training and evaluation requirements may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training documenting completion of the Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Operator Safety Training program.
The certificate documents training completed and should not be represented as a governmental operator license.
