1505 – Excavator Operator Safety Training
A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides Excavator Operator Safety Training designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical understanding necessary to safely operate hydraulic excavators and recognize hazards associated with excavation, digging, lifting, material handling, equipment movement, and construction-site operations.
This training program addresses equipment familiarization, pre-operation inspection, workplace hazards, stability, safe digging practices, underground and overhead utilities, swing-radius hazards, attachments, lifting considerations, safe travel, manufacturer requirements, and operator responsibilities. Practical operator evaluation may be provided when applicable and when suitable equipment is available.

Training Discipline: Heavy Equipment Operator Safety
Equipment: Hydraulic Excavator / Crawler Excavator / Wheeled Excavator, as Applicable
Training Format: Instructor-led classroom and/or online instruction with practical equipment training and operator evaluation as applicable.
Practical Training: When provided as part of operator qualification, hands-on training should address the specific type, configuration, controls, attachments, operating characteristics, and limitations of the excavator the participant is expected to operate.
Operator Evaluation: Practical evaluation, when required by the employer, project, manufacturer instructions, or applicable requirements, should be performed using equipment representative of the type the participant will operate and under representative workplace conditions.
Utility Safety Notice: Excavation operations may expose operators and ground personnel to underground and overhead utility hazards. Employers and operators must follow applicable utility-location, excavation, clearance, and site-control requirements before and during equipment operation.
Employer Responsibility Notice: Completion of this A.R.G. training program does not by itself authorize an individual to operate an excavator. Employers remain responsible for ensuring operators are appropriately trained, familiarized, evaluated, authorized, and competent for the specific equipment, attachments, tasks, hazards, and workplace conditions involved.
Training Certificate: Participants who successfully complete applicable training and evaluation requirements may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training documenting completion of the Excavator Operator Safety Training program.
The certificate documents training completed and should not be represented as a governmental operator license.
