A.R.G. Active Shooter & Workplace Violence Emergency Preparedness Training

The A.R.G. Active Shooter & Workplace Violence Emergency Preparedness Training program is designed to help employees, supervisors, managers, contractors, and other workplace personnel understand how to recognize potential workplace violence concerns and respond appropriately during an active threat or violent emergency.

This workplace emergency preparedness program emphasizes situational awareness, reporting procedures, emergency communication, evacuation, sheltering, employee response options, interaction with emergency responders, and employer emergency planning.

Program Objectives

Upon successful completion of this program, participants should be able to:

• Understand fundamental workplace violence and active threat awareness concepts.
• Recognize concerning behaviors, threats, and potential warning indicators.
• Understand workplace reporting and notification procedures.
• Recognize the importance of situational awareness.
• Understand employer Emergency Action Plan procedures.
• Recognize appropriate evacuation options during an active threat.
• Understand sheltering and hiding considerations when evacuation is not possible.
• Understand commonly used Run, Hide, Fight principles as an emergency response framework.
• Recognize that physical resistance is a last-resort survival consideration when confronted with an imminent threat and safer options are unavailable.
• Understand emergency communication and 911 notification considerations.
• Provide useful information to emergency dispatchers when circumstances permit.
• Understand appropriate behavior when law enforcement and emergency responders arrive.
• Recognize employee accountability and assembly considerations following evacuation.
• Understand basic post-incident communication and reporting responsibilities.
• Support workplace emergency preparedness and prevention efforts.

Training Format

Tabletop discussions, emergency scenarios, facility-specific emergency procedures, or non-tactical response exercises may be incorporated when included within the agreed training scope.

Employer-Specific Training

When requested, A.R.G. may incorporate applicable employer emergency procedures, reporting protocols, evacuation routes, assembly locations, communication systems, workplace policies, and other facility-specific information into the training.

Certificate of Training

Participants who successfully complete the applicable training requirements and required assessments may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training.
