1530 – Order Picker Operator Safety Training
A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides Order Picker Operator Safety Training designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical understanding necessary to safely operate powered order pickers used in warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, storage operations, and other material-handling environments.
This training program addresses equipment familiarization, pre-operation inspection, stability, elevated-platform operation, fall protection, load handling, warehouse traffic, pedestrian interaction, battery and charging hazards, manufacturer requirements, and operator responsibilities. Practical training and operator evaluation may be provided when applicable and when suitable equipment is available.

Training Discipline: Powered Industrial Truck & Material Handling Safety
Equipment: Order Picker / Stock Picker / Elevated Order-Picking Powered Industrial Truck, as Applicable
Training Format: Training may include formal instruction, demonstrations, practical equipment training, and evaluation of operator performance, as applicable.
Practical Training: Operator qualification should include practical training on the type of order picker the participant is expected to operate. Training should address the equipment’s controls, capacity, steering, braking, stability, platform operation, fall-protection system, workplace conditions, and other operating characteristics.
Operator Evaluation: Where OSHA’s Powered Industrial Truck standard applies, operator training includes formal instruction, practical training, and evaluation of the operator’s performance in the workplace. Operator performance must also be evaluated at least once every three years, with refresher training required when specified conditions occur.
Fall Protection Notice: Elevated order pickers may expose operators to serious fall hazards. Operators should use the fall-protection system required for the specific equipment and application in accordance with manufacturer instructions, employer procedures, and applicable requirements. Required fall-protection components should be inspected before use.
Powered Industrial Truck Notice: Order pickers may fall within OSHA requirements applicable to powered industrial trucks. Classroom or online instruction alone should not be represented as completing operator qualification when practical training and workplace performance evaluation are required.
Equipment-Specific Training Notice: Different order picker models may have significantly different controls, capacities, steering characteristics, fall-protection systems, and operating limitations. Operators should receive equipment-specific instruction and familiarization before operating unfamiliar equipment.
Employer Responsibility Notice: Completion of an A.R.G. classroom or knowledge-based training component does not by itself authorize an individual to operate an order picker. Employers remain responsible for ensuring applicable formal instruction, practical training, workplace evaluation, refresher training, authorization, and documentation requirements are satisfied.
Training Certificate: Participants who successfully complete applicable training and evaluation requirements may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training documenting completion of the Order Picker Operator Safety Training program.
The certificate documents training completed and should not be represented as an OSHA-issued card, governmental operator license, or governmental certification.
