HAZWOPER 24-Hour Initial Training
This 24-hour HAZWOPER training course is designed for workers who may perform limited tasks at hazardous waste sites and whose work activities meet the applicable training requirements of OSHA’s Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) standard, 29 CFR 1910.120.
The training provides participants with knowledge and awareness of hazardous waste operations, workplace hazards, personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard controls, emergency procedures, and safe work practices.
Course Duration: 24 Hours

- Introduction to HAZWOPER and regulatory requirements
- Hazard recognition and site characterization
- Hazardous substances and exposure risks
- Personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Respiratory protection awareness
- Decontamination procedures
- Site control and safe work practices
- Emergency response procedures
- Medical surveillance awareness
- Exposure monitoring and hazard controls
- Employee rights and responsibilities
Important: The 24-hour training requirement applies only to workers whose job duties and site conditions qualify for this level of HAZWOPER training. Additional supervised field experience and/or other training requirements may apply depending on the employee’s duties and applicable OSHA requirements.
