1800 – Maritime Industry Safety Fundamentals Training
A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides Maritime Industry Safety Fundamentals Training designed to help employees, supervisors, contractors, and organizations recognize common occupational safety and health hazards associated with maritime workplaces and understand fundamental workplace controls and safe-work practices.
This introductory program provides general maritime safety awareness applicable, as appropriate, to shipyard employment, marine terminal operations, longshoring activities, vessel-related work, marine cargo handling, and supporting maritime operations.

Training Discipline: Maritime Industry Safety, Shipyard, Marine Terminal, Longshoring & Marine Workplace Hazard Awareness
Maritime Standards Notice: Maritime safety requirements vary according to the work being performed and the location of the operation. Shipyard employment, marine terminal operations, and longshoring activities may be subject to different OSHA maritime standards and additional requirements.
Scope Notice: This course provides general maritime-industry safety fundamentals. It does not represent that every regulatory requirement applicable to a particular shipyard, marine terminal, vessel, longshoring operation, employer, or employee is covered.
OSH Outreach Distinction: This Maritime Industry Safety Fundamentals Training is a separate A.R.G. professional training program and is not the A.R.G. OSH 10-Hour or OSH 30-Hour Maritime Industry Outreach Class.
Equipment Qualification Notice: Awareness of forklifts, cranes, powered equipment, rigging, cargo-handling equipment, or other machinery within this course does not qualify or authorize a participant to operate equipment or perform specialized operations requiring additional training, evaluation, certification, or employer authorization.
Confined & Enclosed Space Notice: Awareness provided in this course does not qualify participants to enter, evaluate, test, supervise, or perform rescue operations in confined or enclosed spaces where specialized training or qualifications are required.
Fire & Emergency Response Notice: This course does not qualify participants as firefighters, fire watch personnel where specific qualification requirements apply, rescue technicians, hazardous-material emergency responders, or other specialized emergency-response personnel.
Workplace-Specific Notice: Employers remain responsible for identifying hazards associated with their maritime operations, determining applicable standards, establishing workplace-specific procedures, providing required PPE, training and evaluating employees as applicable, and authorizing employees for assigned duties.
Training Certificate: Participants who successfully complete applicable training requirements may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training documenting completion of the Maritime Industry Safety Fundamentals Training program.
The certificate documents training completed and should not be represented as an OSHA-issued credential, U.S. Coast Guard credential, maritime license, merchant mariner credential, equipment-operator certification, or governmental certification.
