A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides Compressed Gas Cylinder Fire & Life Safety Training designed to help employees recognize fire, explosion, pressure, handling, storage, transportation, and emergency hazards associated with compressed gas cylinders in the workplace.
This training is appropriate for construction, general industry, welding and cutting operations, manufacturing, maintenance facilities, laboratories, warehouses, healthcare support operations, industrial facilities, and other workplaces where compressed gas cylinders are stored, handled, transported, or used.

Training Discipline: Compressed Gas Cylinder Safety, Fire Prevention & Workplace Life Safety
Pressure Hazard Notice: Compressed gas cylinders contain significant stored energy. Damage to a cylinder, valve, regulator, connection, or other component can result in uncontrolled gas release, fire, explosion, toxic exposure, oxygen displacement, or other serious hazards.
Identification Notice: Employees should identify compressed gases using approved labels, markings, Safety Data Sheets, and workplace procedures. Cylinder color alone should not be relied upon as the sole method of identifying cylinder contents.
Storage Notice: Cylinders should be stored and secured in accordance with applicable requirements, manufacturer instructions, gas-specific hazards, and workplace procedures. Storage arrangements may require separation of incompatible gases and protection from heat, ignition sources, physical damage, and unauthorized access.
Handling Notice: Employees should use appropriate cylinder-handling equipment and procedures. Cylinders should not be intentionally dropped, struck, improperly lifted by protective caps, or handled in a manner that could damage the cylinder or valve.
Oxygen Safety Notice: Oxygen is not flammable but strongly supports combustion. Oxygen equipment should be protected from contamination by oil, grease, and other materials that may create a fire or explosion hazard.
Fuel Gas Notice: Fuel gases can create significant fire and explosion hazards. Applicable storage, separation, ventilation, ignition-control, connection, leak-testing, and emergency procedures must be followed.
Leak Response Limitation: Employees should respond to leaking or damaged cylinders only within their training, authorization, available protective equipment, and employer procedures. An uncontrolled or hazardous gas release may require evacuation and response by appropriately trained emergency personnel.
Hazard Communication Notice: This program does not replace chemical-specific Hazard Communication training. Employers remain responsible for providing employees with applicable information concerning the specific compressed gases present in their workplace.
Transportation Notice: Transportation of compressed gas cylinders on public roads may be subject to additional U.S. Department of Transportation or other regulatory requirements. Completion of this course does not constitute DOT hazardous-material employee training or authorize transportation activities requiring separate qualifications.
Qualification Limitation: Completion of this course does not qualify participants to fill, manufacture, repair, requalify, hydrostatically test, certify, or perform regulated maintenance on compressed gas cylinders or pressure vessels.
Emergency Response Limitation: This course does not qualify participants as firefighters, hazardous-material technicians, HAZWOPER emergency responders, emergency medical personnel, or other specialized emergency-response professionals.
Workplace-Specific Notice: Employers remain responsible for identifying the gases present, evaluating their hazards, establishing appropriate storage and handling procedures, maintaining required labels and Safety Data Sheets, providing appropriate PPE, and implementing applicable emergency procedures.
Training Certificate: Participants who successfully complete applicable training requirements may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training documenting completion of the Compressed Gas Cylinder Fire & Life Safety Training program.
The certificate documents training completed and should not be represented as an OSHA-issued credential, DOT hazardous-material certification, cylinder technician certification, firefighter certification, or governmental license or certification.
