A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides Portable Fire Extinguisher Safety Training designed to educate employees on workplace fire hazards, the general principles of portable fire extinguisher use, extinguisher limitations, fire classifications, emergency decision-making, evacuation considerations, and the hazards associated with incipient-stage firefighting.
This training is appropriate for construction, general industry, warehouses, offices, manufacturing facilities, maintenance operations, hospitality, commercial facilities, and other workplaces where portable fire extinguishers are provided for employee use.

Training Discipline: Fire Prevention, Portable Fire Extinguisher & Workplace Life Safety
Applicable Equipment: Portable Fire Extinguishers, as Applicable to the Workplace
Training Format: Training may include classroom instruction, instructor demonstration, multimedia instruction, extinguisher familiarization, simulated extinguisher exercises, and hands-on practical exercises when included in the selected training format.
Incipient-Stage Fire Notice: Portable fire extinguishers are intended for appropriate small or incipient-stage fires. Employees should not attempt to fight a fire when conditions are unsafe, the fire has grown beyond their training or available equipment, smoke or heat creates an unsafe atmosphere, or a safe evacuation route cannot be maintained.
Evacuation Priority: Employee life safety takes priority over property protection. Employees should follow the employer’s Emergency Action Plan, fire-safety policy, alarm procedures, evacuation requirements, and instructions concerning whether employees are authorized to use portable fire extinguishers.
Employer Policy Notice: The presence of portable fire extinguishers does not automatically mean every employee is authorized or expected to fight a fire. Employer emergency procedures should identify whether employees evacuate immediately, whether designated employees may use extinguishers, or whether broader employee extinguisher use is permitted.
Practical Exercise Notice: A classroom, online, or knowledge-based course does not imply that a participant completed a live-fire exercise. When hands-on extinguisher practice is included, the certificate or training documentation should accurately identify the practical component completed.
Inspection & Maintenance Notice: Employee safety training does not qualify a participant to perform extinguisher servicing, maintenance, hydrostatic testing, repair, or other activities requiring qualified personnel, specialized equipment, licensing, certification, or authorization under applicable requirements.
Workplace-Specific Notice: Fire hazards, extinguisher types, emergency procedures, alarm systems, evacuation routes, and employee responsibilities vary by workplace. Employers remain responsible for providing workplace-specific information and implementing applicable fire-prevention and emergency procedures.
Employer Responsibility Notice: Completion of A.R.G. training does not replace an employer’s responsibility to comply with applicable OSHA standards, fire codes, emergency planning requirements, equipment inspection and maintenance requirements, employee authorization requirements, and other federal, state, local, or site-specific requirements.
Training Certificate: Participants who successfully complete the applicable training requirements may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training documenting completion of the Portable Fire Extinguisher Safety Training program.
The certificate documents training completed and should not be represented as an OSHA-issued credential, firefighter certification, fire inspector certification, fire extinguisher technician license, or governmental certification.
