702 – ARC Flash Safety for Competent Person

Arc flash and electrical safety awareness training covering hazard recognition, shock and arc-flash hazards, approach boundaries, PPE, warning labels, and safe work practices.

Designed for personnel with workplace safety responsibilities who need a better understanding of electrical hazards and applicable safety requirements.

Training does not, by itself, qualify or authorize a participant to perform energized electrical work.

Description

This training provides an overview of arc flash and electrical safety hazards for personnel assigned workplace safety responsibilities. The course addresses hazard recognition, electrical shock and arc-flash hazards, safe work practices, approach boundaries, personal protective equipment (PPE), warning labels, and methods used to reduce exposure to electrical hazards.

Topics may include electrical hazard identification, arc-flash risk awareness, energized electrical work considerations, electrical PPE, safe approach practices, and applicable workplace safety requirements.

This training is intended to supplement an employer’s electrical safety program and site-specific procedures. Completion of this course does not, by itself, designate or certify an individual as a Qualified Person or Competent Person for electrical work, nor does it authorize an individual to perform energized electrical work.

Employers remain responsible for determining employee qualifications, providing task- and equipment-specific training, conducting required risk assessments, and implementing applicable electrical safety procedures.

Applicable references may include OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Subpart S, OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart K, NFPA 70E, and other applicable electrical safety requirements and recognized industry practices.
