HAZWOPER 8-Hour Annual Refresher Training
This 8-hour refresher course is designed for employees who have previously completed qualifying HAZWOPER training and require annual refresher training under OSHA’s Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) standard, 29 CFR 1910.120.
The training reinforces previously acquired knowledge and addresses relevant safety and health procedures, hazard recognition, personal protective equipment (PPE), exposure prevention, decontamination, emergency procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Course Duration: 8 Hours

- HAZWOPER regulatory requirements and worker responsibilities
- Review of hazardous waste operations and site safety
- Hazard recognition and risk assessment
- Hazardous substances and routes of exposure
- Personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Respiratory protection awareness
- Air monitoring and exposure prevention
- Site control and work zones
- Decontamination procedures
- Emergency response procedures
- Incident prevention and lessons learned
- Medical surveillance awareness
- Safe work practices and hazard controls
- Review of applicable regulatory requirements
Important: This course is intended as annual refresher training for employees who have previously completed the applicable qualifying HAZWOPER initial training.
The refresher course does not replace the required initial HAZWOPER training, applicable supervised field experience, employer-specific training, site-specific training, task-specific training, or other training required for assigned duties.
Employers remain responsible for determining the applicable HAZWOPER training requirements for each employee based on job duties, workplace conditions, potential exposures, and the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120.
