Workplace First Aid: OSHA requires employers to address medical services and first aid based on applicable workplace requirements. Under 29 CFR 1910.151, when an infirmary, clinic, or hospital is not available in near proximity to the workplace for treatment of injured employees, adequately trained personnel must be available to render first aid. Adequate first aid supplies must also be readily available.
Important: First aid requirements can vary according to industry, workplace hazards, operations, and applicable OSHA standards. Employers remain responsible for determining the first aid and emergency response requirements applicable to their workplace.
