A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides Fire Sprinkler & Suppression System Safety Awareness Training designed to help employees understand the basic purpose and function of workplace fire sprinkler and suppression systems, recognize conditions that may interfere with fire protection, understand system impairment awareness, and properly report unsafe or abnormal conditions.
This awareness-level training is appropriate for construction, general industry, manufacturing, warehouses, offices, commercial facilities, industrial operations, maintenance personnel, facility personnel, property management, contractors, and other workplaces protected by automatic sprinkler or specialized fire-suppression systems.

Training Discipline: Fire Sprinkler Systems, Fixed Fire Suppression, Fire Protection & Workplace Life Safety Awareness
Automatic Sprinkler Awareness: Automatic sprinkler systems are designed fire-protection systems. Employees should not obstruct, damage, paint, modify, disable, close valves serving, or otherwise interfere with sprinkler-system components unless they are specifically authorized and applicable impairment procedures are followed.
Storage & Obstruction Notice: Storage, equipment, temporary materials, construction activities, or other objects can interfere with sprinkler discharge or access to fire-protection equipment. Applicable clearance and arrangement requirements depend on the sprinkler design, storage configuration, occupancy, commodities, and other site-specific conditions.
System Impairment Notice: A fire-protection system that is shut down, damaged, out of service, or otherwise impaired can significantly reduce building fire protection. Impairments should be reported and managed according to applicable employer procedures, fire codes, contractual requirements, insurer requirements, and requirements of the authority having jurisdiction.
Fire Watch Notice: A fire watch or other temporary protective measure may be required during certain fire-protection system impairments. The need, scope, personnel, frequency, duration, documentation, and termination of such measures should be determined from applicable requirements and site-specific conditions.
Special Suppression System Notice: Some fixed suppression systems may introduce additional hazards, including oxygen displacement, reduced visibility, pressure, chemical exposure, or other hazards. Employees should understand applicable alarms, evacuation requirements, restricted areas, and workplace-specific emergency procedures.
Inspection, Testing & Maintenance Limitation: This course provides safety awareness only. It does not qualify participants to design, install, inspect, test, maintain, repair, alter, certify, commission, or approve automatic sprinkler or specialized fire-suppression systems.
Code Awareness Notice: Fire sprinkler and suppression system requirements may involve OSHA standards, applicable fire and building codes, adopted consensus standards, authorities having jurisdiction, insurer requirements, contractual requirements, and facility-specific procedures.
Qualification Limitation: Completion of this course does not qualify a participant as a sprinkler fitter, fire-protection technician, fire-suppression system technician, fire inspector, building inspector, firefighter, system designer, or code official.
Workplace-Specific Notice: Employers and building operators remain responsible for determining applicable fire-protection requirements, maintaining required systems, controlling impairments, coordinating inspections and maintenance by appropriately qualified personnel, and training employees regarding applicable emergency procedures.
Training Certificate: Participants who successfully complete applicable training requirements may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training documenting completion of the Fire Sprinkler & Suppression System Safety Awareness Training program.
The certificate documents training completed and should not be represented as an OSHA-issued credential, sprinkler-system certification, fire-suppression technician certification, fire-protection license, fire inspector certification, or governmental certification.
