A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides Material / Telebelt Conveyor Operator Safety Training designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical understanding necessary to safely operate truck-mounted telescopic belt conveyors, mobile material-placement conveyors, Telebelt-type equipment, and similar systems used to place concrete, aggregate, gravel, sand, backfill, and other compatible construction materials.

Material-placement conveyor operations can expose operators and ground personnel to moving belts, rotating components, telescoping booms, outriggers, unstable ground, pinch and crush points, falling material, traffic, overhead power lines, hydraulic systems, and other serious hazards. This training program addresses equipment familiarization, pre-operation inspection, safe setup, conveyor and boom operation, material placement, truck interaction, electrical hazards, hazardous-energy control, manufacturer requirements, and operator responsibilities.

Training Discipline: Mobile Material Placement, Conveyor Systems & Heavy Equipment Safety

Equipment: Truck-Mounted Telescopic Belt Conveyor / Mobile Material Conveyor / Telebelt-Type Material Placement Equipment, as Applicable

Training Format: Training may include formal instruction, demonstrations, practical equipment training, and evaluation of operator performance, as applicable.

Practical Training: Practical training should be appropriate to the specific material-placement conveyor the participant is expected to operate. Training should address controls, conveyor systems, telescoping boom functions, outriggers, stability, material flow, remote controls, visibility, power-line hazards, truck interaction, and workplace conditions.

Outrigger & Stability Notice: Equipment stability depends on proper setup, ground conditions, leveling, outrigger or stabilizer deployment, adequate support, equipment configuration, and manufacturer requirements. Operators should evaluate conditions that could affect stability before and during operation.

Conveyor Safety Notice: Conveyor belts, rollers, pulleys, shafts, and drive systems can create severe caught-in, entanglement, pinch-point, and crushing hazards. Personnel should remain clear of moving conveyor components, and required guards and protective devices should remain properly installed and functional.

Telescoping Boom Safety Notice: Extending, retracting, raising, lowering, or positioning a conveyor boom can create crushing, striking, and caught-between hazards. Appropriate exclusion zones and communication procedures should be maintained around moving equipment.

Power-Line Safety Notice: Elevated conveyor booms can contact or approach energized overhead electrical lines. Applicable electrical-clearance requirements, site procedures, and manufacturer instructions should be followed to prevent electrical contact.

Material Discharge Notice: Concrete, aggregate, sand, gravel, backfill, and other materials can fall or discharge unexpectedly. Personnel should remain clear of hazardous discharge areas and use appropriate work-area controls and personal protective equipment.

Silica & Dust Notice: Handling aggregate, sand, concrete, or other silica-containing materials can generate respirable dust. Employers should evaluate applicable exposure requirements and implement appropriate engineering controls, work practices, housekeeping, exposure assessment, and respiratory protection when required.

Energy-Control Notice: Operators should not enter hazardous areas, remove guards, clear jams, clean dangerous moving components, or perform servicing unless equipment has been appropriately shut down and hazardous energy controlled according to applicable procedures.

Driver Qualification Notice: When the conveyor system is mounted on a vehicle operated on public roadways, this training does not replace a driver’s license, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), endorsement, medical qualification, or other credential that may be required.

Equipment-Specific Training Notice: Truck-mounted and mobile material conveyors vary significantly in controls, boom configurations, conveyor systems, outriggers, capacities, hydraulic systems, remote controls, safety devices, and operating characteristics. Operators should receive instruction and familiarization appropriate to the specific equipment they are expected to operate.

Employer Responsibility Notice: Completion of an A.R.G. classroom or knowledge-based training component does not by itself authorize an individual to operate material-placement conveyor equipment. Employers remain responsible for determining applicable requirements and ensuring equipment-specific instruction, practical training, evaluation, authorization, supervision, protective equipment, electrical controls, energy-control procedures, and documentation appropriate to the equipment, task, and workplace.

Training Certificate: Participants who successfully complete applicable training and evaluation requirements may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training documenting completion of the Material / Telebelt Conveyor Operator Safety Training program.

The certificate documents training completed and should not be represented as an OSHA-issued credential, governmental operator license, CDL, or governmental certification.
