1526 – Utility Vehicle (UTV) Operator Safety Training
A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides Utility Vehicle (UTV) Operator Safety Training designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical understanding necessary to safely operate utility task vehicles and similar side-by-side vehicles used in construction, industrial, agricultural, maintenance, facility, and other workplace operations.
This training program addresses equipment familiarization, pre-operation inspection, occupant protection, stability, terrain, slopes, safe travel, cargo and load handling, towing, pedestrian interaction, manufacturer requirements, and operator responsibilities. Practical operator evaluation may be provided when applicable and when suitable equipment is available.

Training Discipline: Utility Vehicle & Mobile Equipment Operator Safety
Equipment: Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) / Side-by-Side Utility Vehicle, as Applicable
Training Format: Instructor-led classroom and/or online instruction with practical equipment training and operator evaluation as applicable.
Practical Training: When provided as part of operator qualification, hands-on training should address the specific UTV configuration, controls, braking and steering characteristics, occupant-protection systems, cargo capacity, attachments, terrain limitations, operating characteristics, and hazards associated with the vehicle the participant is expected to operate.
Operator Evaluation: Practical evaluation, when required by the employer, project, manufacturer instructions, or applicable requirements, should be performed using a vehicle representative of the type the participant will operate and under representative workplace conditions.
Occupant Protection Notice: Operators and passengers should use installed seat belts, doors, nets, and other occupant-protection systems in accordance with manufacturer instructions. Passengers should only ride in designated seating positions intended by the manufacturer.
Rollover Prevention Notice: UTV stability can be significantly affected by speed, sharp turns, slopes, uneven terrain, cargo, passengers, attachments, towing, and changing surface conditions. Operators should follow manufacturer operating limitations and applicable site-specific safe work procedures.
Cargo & Towing Notice: Cargo and towing can affect vehicle steering, braking, stability, and stopping distance. Manufacturer-rated capacities, load distribution requirements, attachment limitations, and towing instructions should be followed.
Public-Road Notice: This training does not establish that a UTV is legally permitted for operation on public roads and does not replace any driver’s license, vehicle registration, insurance, equipment requirement, permit, or other credential that may be required by the applicable jurisdiction.
Employer Responsibility Notice: Completion of this A.R.G. training program does not by itself authorize an individual to operate a UTV. Employers remain responsible for ensuring operators are appropriately trained, familiarized, evaluated, authorized, and competent for the specific vehicle, tasks, terrain, hazards, and workplace conditions involved.
Training Certificate: Participants who successfully complete applicable training and evaluation requirements may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training documenting completion of the Utility Vehicle (UTV) Operator Safety Training program.
The certificate documents training completed and should not be represented as a driver’s license or governmental operator license.
