1522 – Concrete Mixer Truck Operator Safety Training
A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides Concrete Mixer Truck Operator Safety Training designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical understanding necessary to safely operate and work with concrete mixer trucks in construction, commercial, industrial, and ready-mix operations.
This training program addresses vehicle and mixer-system familiarization, pre-operation inspection, jobsite hazards, backing and positioning, drum and chute operations, material discharge, hydraulic systems, pedestrian interaction, overhead hazards, cleaning procedures, manufacturer requirements, and operator responsibilities. Practical operator evaluation may be provided when applicable and when suitable equipment is available.

Training Discipline: Mobile Equipment & Concrete Operations Safety
Equipment: Concrete Mixer Truck / Ready-Mix Truck, as Applicable
Training Format: Instructor-led classroom and/or online instruction with practical equipment training and operator evaluation as applicable.
Practical Training: When provided as part of operator qualification, hands-on training should address the specific vehicle, mixer system, controls, drum, chute assembly, hydraulic system, operating characteristics, limitations, and hazards associated with the concrete mixer truck the participant is expected to operate.
Operator Evaluation: Practical evaluation, when required by the employer, project, manufacturer instructions, or applicable requirements, should be performed using equipment representative of the type the participant will operate and under representative workplace conditions.
Backing & Jobsite Safety Notice: Concrete mixer trucks frequently operate in congested construction areas with workers, equipment, excavations, limited visibility, and changing ground conditions. Appropriate traffic control, pedestrian separation, communication, spotter procedures, and site-specific safety measures should be established as applicable.
Concrete Exposure Notice: Wet concrete and cementitious materials may cause serious skin and eye injury. Appropriate personal protective equipment, hygiene practices, and exposure-control procedures should be implemented based on the work performed and applicable requirements.
Mixer Drum Safety Notice: Personnel should not enter or perform work inside a mixer drum unless the employer has evaluated the hazards and established all required hazardous-energy control, entry, isolation, and other applicable safety procedures. Internal drum work may present serious mechanical, engulfment, atmospheric, and confined-space hazards.
Driver Qualification Notice: This training program does not replace a driver’s license, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), endorsement, medical qualification, or other credential required for operation of a particular vehicle on public roads or under applicable federal, state, or local requirements.
Employer Responsibility Notice: Completion of this A.R.G. training program does not by itself authorize an individual to operate a concrete mixer truck. Employers remain responsible for ensuring drivers and operators possess applicable driving credentials and are appropriately trained, familiarized, evaluated, authorized, and competent for the specific vehicle, equipment, tasks, hazards, and workplace conditions involved.
Training Certificate: Participants who successfully complete applicable training and evaluation requirements may receive an A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health Certificate of Training documenting completion of the Concrete Mixer Truck Operator Safety Training program.
The certificate documents training completed and should not be represented as a driver’s license, CDL, governmental operator license, or other governmental credential.
