MSHA Part 46 Site-Specific Hazard Awareness Training

A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides mine-specific hazard awareness training developed to address 30 CFR Part 46, §46.11.

The program is customized to the hazards, conditions, equipment, traffic patterns, restricted areas, emergency procedures, and work activities present at the specific mine site.

Site-Specific Topics May Include:

Training Requirement: Training must be provided before applicable persons are exposed to mine hazards.

Course Duration: Site-dependent. There is no universal minimum number of hours established under §46.11.

Training Delivery: May include oral instruction, written hazard warnings, signs and posted warnings, walk-around training, or other appropriate training methods.

Mine-Specific Requirement: The program must be based on the actual hazards and conditions of the mine where the individual will be present or working.

Regulatory Reference: Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), 30 CFR Part 46, §46.11.

Training Documentation: Documentation requirements depend on whether the individual is considered a miner under Part 46. Training records for miners must comply with applicable Part 46 requirements. For non-miners, formal Part 46 training records are not required; however, evidence that Site-Specific Hazard Awareness Training was provided must be available upon request.

A.R.G. Construction, Safety & Health provides Site-Specific Hazard Awareness Training developed to address the requirements of 30 CFR Part 46, §46.11.

This training is designed to alert individuals entering a Part 46 mine site to the specific hazards, conditions, traffic patterns, restricted areas, emergency procedures, and safe work practices applicable to that particular mining operation.

Site-Specific Hazard Awareness Training must be provided before applicable persons are exposed to mine hazards.

Training May Apply To:

  • Office and Staff Personnel
  • Scientific Workers
  • Delivery Workers
  • Customers and Commercial Over-the-Road Truck Drivers
  • Vendors and Visitors
  • Applicable Maintenance and Service Workers
  • Applicable Construction Workers
  • Employees of Independent Contractors
  • Miners Who Move From One Mine to Another, When Applicable

Training Methods May Include: Oral instruction, written hazard information, signs and posted warnings, walk-around training, or other appropriate methods sufficient to alert affected persons to site-specific mine hazards.
