Risk factors vary depending on the workplace, industry, job duties, work environment, and interaction with the public.<\/p>\n<p>Training topics may include:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Workplace Violence Awareness<br \/>\n\u2022 Types and Sources of Workplace Violence<br \/>\n\u2022 Workplace Risk Factors<br \/>\n\u2022 Recognition of Warning Signs and Concerning Behavior<br \/>\n\u2022 Threats, Intimidation, Harassment, and Aggressive Behavior<br \/>\n\u2022 Verbal Conflict and De-Escalation Principles<br \/>\n\u2022 Employee Responsibilities<br \/>\n\u2022 Supervisor and Management Responsibilities<br \/>\n\u2022 Reporting Threats and Concerning Behavior<br \/>\n\u2022 Emergency Communication and Notification<br \/>\n\u2022 Emergency Action Procedures<br \/>\n\u2022 Evacuation, Shelter, and Workplace Emergency Considerations<br \/>\n\u2022 Access Control and Workplace Security<br \/>\n\u2022 Working Alone and Isolated Work Areas<br \/>\n\u2022 Protection of Employees and Visitors<br \/>\n\u2022 Incident and Near-Miss Reporting<br \/>\n\u2022 Post-Incident Procedures<br \/>\n\u2022 Documentation and Investigation<br \/>\n\u2022 Confidentiality and Information-Sharing Considerations<br \/>\n\u2022 Workplace Violence Prevention Policies and Procedures<\/p>\n<p>Employees should understand how to recognize and report threatening or concerning behavior, how to obtain assistance, and what actions to take during an emergency in accordance with employer procedures.<\/p>\n<p>Employees should not be expected to place themselves in unnecessary danger or physically intervene in violent incidents unless specifically trained, authorized, and assigned to perform such duties.<\/p>\n<p>Employers should evaluate workplace-specific risk factors and implement appropriate engineering controls, administrative controls, work practices, security measures, employee training, communication procedures, and emergency-response measures based on identified hazards.<\/p>\n<p>Workplace violence incidents resulting in occupational injuries, illnesses, or fatalities may also be subject to applicable OSHA injury and illness recordkeeping and reporting requirements.<\/p>\n<p>This training is intended to supplement, not replace, the employer&#8217;s workplace violence prevention program, emergency action procedures, security procedures, site-specific training, company policies, or applicable federal, state, or local requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Completion of this course does not qualify an individual to perform law-enforcement, security, emergency-response, threat-assessment, or other specialized duties requiring additional training, licensing, certification, or employer
